May 20 to June 16, 2026: The Insurance Commissioner’s Office Opens a Case on Gallagher Bassett

Exhibit · GIRMA, GMA, and Gallagher Bassett

The state insurance regulator opened a file on Gallagher Bassett’s handling of the claim. The clock that matters runs from a date nobody has told me.

What it is

The Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance’s file on my consumer complaint against Gallagher Bassett Services, Inc. Three items: the May 20, 2026 case assignment from Complaints Analyst Annette Arnold, my June 16 check-in, and her reply the same afternoon.

What I sent, May 12, 2026 (summary, not a transcript)

A consumer complaint to the Office of Commissioner of Insurance about Gallagher Bassett’s handling of the claim: the seven claim numbers set up by mistake, five written accommodation requests with no response, the April 1 denial that named no policy provision, and the May 1 letters. Filed by email to the Consumer Services Division with the Market Conduct Division in copy, and on paper by Priority Mail. Twenty exhibits, 84 pages. The complaint text is not reproduced here.

Why it matters

This is the regulator lane for the GIRMA track, the counterpart of the State ADA Coordinator’s Office on the Bar track. A case was opened. The licensee’s response clock runs from the day the Office forwards the complaint, a date the Office has not stated. As of September 5, 2026 no substantive update has arrived.

What it shows

“Licensed entities have fifteen (15) business days to respond to a consumer complaint from the time we send it to them for review.” On June 16: “It could take several weeks for the complaint to be processed.”

What it does not show

Whether Gallagher Bassett has responded, or the date the complaint was sent to it. I asked on June 16. The reply restated the rule.
