I Bought the Tools. They Called It Access.

I paid for the adaptive technology that lets me create documents instead of typing. When I asked the Bar for accommodations, its Deputy General Counsel pointed to the tools I had already bought as evidence that I could manage.

“At this time, it does not appear that you require assistance in preparing written submissions or in understanding or responding to correspondence from the State Bar.”

I had offered documentation of my disability. The Bar never requested it. It treated my privately funded workaround as the accommodation it was asked to provide.

Buying my own access is not the Bar providing access.
