What happened when I asked Georgia POST for a written ADA route?

SUMMARY

On April 23, 2026, I sent Georgia POST a written disability request. On April 28, Executive Director Chris Harvey wrote that he had forwarded the correspondence to “our legal counsel for review.” POST put its ADA notice, grievance procedure and complaint form online on August 7, 2026, 106 days after my request.

The handoff

Georgia POST is the state agency that certifies Georgia’s police officers. Its Executive Director is Chris Harvey, and its ADA Coordinator is Meghan Fail. A POST helpdesk acknowledgment followed my April 23 request. At 7:54 AM on April 27, Harvey’s mailbox opened my request, and at 8:14 AM, POST’s records show, he forwarded it to the State’s lawyer. POST’s records give two dates for the handoff to counsel: April 24 in one letter, and April 27 in the forwarding email. Harvey’s April 28 message did not identify the lawyer.

The July emails

On July 15, 2026, POST ADA Coordinator Meghan Fail wrote: “I have never received training or gained any real knowledge of ADA.” On July 16, Harvey wrote: “I will forward the information you requested about the ADA in the near future.”

The August 6 forward

On August 6, 2026, Fail forwarded a State ADA Coordinator’s Office inquiry about POST’s Title II contact and grievance procedure to Harvey. She wrote: “See below. I am not sure how to respond to this.” On August 7, POST’s ADA notice, grievance procedure and complaint form were online. That was 106 days after my April 23 request.

The determination

On August 27, 2026, POST issued a written determination on the Title II grievance, signed by Assistant Attorney General Paul Jay Pontrelli.

Where the record stands

No email from Harvey sending the information he promised on July 16 found through October 19, 2026.
