Who Chris Harvey Is:
Chris Harvey is the Executive Director of the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council, known as Georgia POST. Georgia POST’s staff page lists Chris Harvey first in its Executive Division, with the title “Executive Director.” He is a different person from Robert Harvey, the Director of POST’s Operations Division.
On December 18, 2024, the Office of the Governor announced that the POST Council “has named Chris Harvey as executive director,” and that “Harvey will assume the role following the retirement of current executive director, Mike Ayers at the end of this month.” The same announcement says:
- “In July 2021, he was appointed deputy executive director of the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council, the state agency responsible for certifying and setting training standards for all peace officers in Georgia.” That is more than five years at POST, and nearly two years as its head.
- “In 2015, he was appointed state elections director for the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office”.
- “After several years of seminary and teaching high school, he began his law enforcement career with the DeKalb County Police Department in 1994”.

Why Chris Harvey is On ADAMATTERS.COM:
- He runs the agency that sets the standards, and he sent my ADA request to the lawyer. The Governor’s office calls Georgia POST “the state agency responsible for certifying and setting training standards for all peace officers in Georgia.” Chris Harvey runs it. When I asked his agency in writing for ADA help, he answered on April 28, 2026, at 1:40 PM: “Regarding the ADA issues you have raised, I have provided your correspondence to our legal counsel for review.” Read the full story
- Twenty minutes to the lawyer. POST’s own records production shows Chris Harvey’s mailbox opened my ADA demand on April 27, 2026, at 7:54 AM. At 8:14 AM he forwarded it to Assistant Attorney General Paul Jay Pontrelli, adding no words of his own. On April 28 he did not name that lawyer to me.
- A broken promise. On July 15, 2026, I asked him for POST’s ADA contact, its grievance procedure and its timeline. On July 16, at 11:28 AM, he wrote: “I will forward the information you requested about the ADA in the near future.” As of October 17, 2026, 93 days later, he has not sent that ADA information. The name of POST’s ADA contact reached me on August 7, 2026, from the State ADA Coordinator’s Office, not from POST. Read the State ADA Office’s answer
- His own ADA staff did not know what to do, and it went to the lawyer again. On August 4, 2026, Meghan Fail forwarded my request to him and wrote: “I am not sure how to answer this person.” On August 6 she forwarded the State ADA Coordinator’s Office inquiry to him: “See below. I am not sure how to respond to this.” Both times, POST’s own records show, Chris Harvey forwarded it to the State’s lawyer, at 3:39 PM on August 4 and 5:01 PM on August 6. Read what his staff wrote
- Asleep at the wheel. On April 28, 2026, he wrote: “We will evaluate everything you provided and notify you when our evaluation is complete.” No evaluation has come. On October 16, 2026, his Deputy Director of Investigations wrote that complaint presentations “have been postponed until further notice.” As of October 17, 2026, 235 days after I filed my complaint with POST on February 24, 2026, there is no decision. - A habit of reading and not answering. Chris Harvey’s mailbox returned nine read receipts on my emails between April 27 and October 7, 2026. Five of those emails, all with him copied, drew no answer from him. His last email to me was September 11, 2026, 36 days ago, and it said it was “not a substantive response.”
- The agency’s own lawyer graded the ADA grievance. My August 21, 2026 ADA grievance was opened on his mailbox at 2:22 PM, twenty three minutes after I sent it. On August 27 the answer came from the Assistant Attorney General, who wrote that he reviewed it “as legal counsel to POST” and concluded: “Thus, your ADA Title II grievance is denied.” The letter shows “cc: Executive Director Chris Harvey.” Read about the August 27 decision
