The Oversight That Corrected Nothing

The Oversight That Corrected Nothing

The Bar called its failure an “oversight.” It acknowledged the word. It never fixed the thing the word described.

“As a result of this misclassification, your submissions were not added to the grievance file at that time.”

Leigh Burgess, Assistant General Counsel, State Bar of Georgia. April 21, 2026.

The dismissal said no rebuttal arrived. The admission said the rebuttal arrived and had been misclassified. The oversight was acknowledged. The dismissal it produced stayed on the record.

In the Bar’s own email, the blame came first. The apology came five paragraphs later, one sentence long: “I apologize for the oversight.” The sentence correcting the dismissal never came at all.

A word is not a correction.
