  • She writes up other lawyers’ discipline, then wrote that my evidence never made the file. Leigh Burgess directs the State Bar’s screening and has written its public “Attorney Discipline Summaries”. On April 21, 2026, at 11:53 AM, she wrote: “As a result of this misclassification, your submissions were not added to the grievance file at that time.” My grievance had already been dismissed on April 10 for “no rebuttal”.   • She runs the mailbox that lost it. In the same email she wrote: “I supervise the staff responsible for monitoring the Response@gabar.org mailbox.”
  • Then she told me to stay out of it. Also in that email: “At this time, your participation is not required, as the file is complete.”
  • Double talk about her own office’s address. On May 5, 2026, at 8:23 AM, she wrote: “Please note that OGC@gabar.org is not an email address associated with our office.” Grievance receipt messages came to me from OGC@gabar.org on February 24, 2026, and again on May 15, 2026, ten days after her email. Her title matters to me. The State Bar publicly calls Leigh Burgess Director, Screening. She is also the person who put the misclassification and the missing submissions into writing. I do not need to speculate about whether the screening function knew there had been a file problem. Her email says it.
