A DISABLED DAD’S ADA MATTERS
Georgia on My Mind
STATE BAR OF GEORGIACITY OF BROOKHAVENGIRMA / GALLAGHER BASSETT

State Bar of Georgia · ADA Access Diary · Day 23 of 25

Shiptenko sent a proactive substantive status update on the reconsideration, stating the postponement ran to June 15 and expressing a hope about my surgery.

What had to be true

For the status update to be "proactive," the Bar had to be willing to engage on substance when it served the Bar, days after telling I it read nothing in my emails as an accommodation request.

What the Bar said

Shiptenko: "the State Bar approved your accommodation request, and Ms. Nash… has postponed issuing a final decision until June 15, 2026, at which point she will resume her review of that matter," and "I hope you have recovered well from your surgery."

What it cost

Not applicable for this date (no outbound). Note for the record: the "recovered well from your surgery" line is factually off; I had told the Bar on May 14, with the ADA Coordinator copied, that the surgery was postponed because I could not clear preoperative requirements.
